Production Handbook

What type of media product did you produce and what was it for? How did you distribute it? How did you distribute it?
After initially thinking of a Horror movie, we decided to make a comedy movie instead. Realizing that we were close to Halloween, we decided to make a more lighthearted take on the genre. But when we passed Halloween, we thought we should go to a comedy. The idea of making fun of comedy movies has been an important part of our lives since we were kids, and so we got to work on it. Our main inspiration for making this mocumentary/comedy was ‘People Just Do Nothing’ which is a British television mockumentary sitcom which in a short term is a programmed follows the lives of MC Grindah, DJ Beats and their friends, who run Kurupt FM, a pirate radio station broadcasting UK garage and drum and bass music from Brantford in West London.
We decided to distribute our film through YouTube, as it is an open-source platform that anyone can use to upload and contribute to. It is a safe and straightforward way to distribute our film.
What other types of moving image media products are there? What other distribution methods are there?
Motion films, theatrical releases, videos, shorts, and news footage are all examples of moving image media goods. These are just a few examples of moving picture media goods; there are other trailers, outtakes, and screen tests to consider. Due to the numerous ways in which these products can be launched, they are quickly able to break into the market. Let us look at how one form of moving image product is delivered. A motion picture is a cinematic film that has been distributed in a variety of methods over the years. For example, once a film has been shown in a theatre, it is normally distributed on DVD or Blu-ray, but in the 2000s, 1990s, and prior, films were only available on VHS tapes. Which was the usual for home media consumption at the time. In today's world, streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video are widely used to distribute films. Online streaming services are increasingly displacing physical media as the primary means of consuming moving image content.
The industry's leaders are big companies like Netflix which provide films, tv, etc. all on one platform all around the world for just small price a month. Disney + is similar it also provides copious amounts of content that they produce which they add onto Disney + and let people watch also for a ridiculously small price per month. They are the main leaders now due to the vast amounts of content they give out which you can watch anywhere on your tv, laptop, phone, and other devices so they are taking advantage of worlds invention the internet and that how they make their money using the world largest thing to their own use technology.
What sources of funding exist for film, television, and other moving image productions?
Finance alludes to the organization of gigantic amounts of cash, especially by legislatures and large companies. Films are frequently works of media that require a lot of cash-flow to begin and keeping in mind that it is feasible to make a film altogether without any preparation without spending a solitary penny, most movies require a few million pounds in financial plan to contend in the present market.
For example, Sunshine on Leith (2013), which was funded by The National Lottery the film, certainly exceeded all expectations and was so successful that it showed that this is possible. Funding would come from Government grants, Tax incentives, Debt financing, Slate financing, Individual investors, and Crowdfunding
Make a list of all the things you might have to spend money on for a moving image text
A financial plan is a gauge of pay and use for a set timeframe. Group compensation, creation configuration, live set and studio costs, ensembles, convenience for entertainers and team, cooking, transportation, advancement, enhancements, and even canine preparing are everything a film financial plan is spent on.
What did you have to obtain for your Depict project?
For our film we did not use any props, just pure raw footage with some extras, the only thing we needed was all the equipment and use of the location we were using.
In our project we used a camera which we used to shoot our film and was the main piece for the foundation of our filming, we also used a tripod which was used to hold the camera in a hand free position so we could record ourselves in and out of the camera frame, we had a noise recorder which made sure the audio was working in the first place, so it came in especially useful, those equipment was the main pillars to our film that made it what it is now.
Personnel: What is the makeup of a typical team for a moving image production in:
A low budget short film: Employees are, by definition, people who work for an organization or are employed by an organized enterprise. Short films are inherently smaller than high-budget films because short films are short enough to avoid a theatrical release. A short film usually requires the roles of assistant director, cinematographer, cinematographer, lighting engineer, sound engineer, production assistant, etc. Obviously not only the director, producer, and screenwriter of the project.
Television programmed: Television programs are typically much more budget and costly to produce than short films, so the film crew needed for a television program can be much higher. Because television productions are often filmed and produced, the staff can also appear much larger. A team can include Executive Producers, Producers, Directors, Assistant Directors, Assistant Producers, Writers, Production Managers, Store Supervisors, Cameramen, Sound Engineers, Makeup Artists, and Joggers.
Hollywood Film: Hollywood movies are big-budget mainstream movies with budgets in the hundreds of millions of dollars today, so making a movie of this size requires a large, tightly knit team of talent. On set, a Hollywood-scale movie requires a diverse staff to complete even the smallest production steps. The team includes Story Editor, Writer, Conversation Coach, Location Manager, Production Designer, Set Designer, Costume Designer, Line Producer, Cameraman, Cameraman, Set Designer, Makeup Artist, Best Boy, Editor and Lighting.
Spider-Man No Way Home was a massive movie released in 2021 which had massive funding and the personnel they had was Jon Watts who the movie director which was especially important to the movie.
Explain how you allocated work in your small group?
Our group had 3 people me, Jack, and Ryan. We were all excited to play a part in the movie, Jack rose to the leader position and gave us jobs on what to do in the project we would all help each other if there was any trouble with the project. Also, because we were in a small group, we all had different timetables and were busy on different days so we could never get the chance to meet up after college times, so we knew we had to record during lesson time inside the college, everyone's opinions are considered and taken seriously when we were in lesson.
Our minutes work which was important to track our absences and the information we did one that day.
Time:
What was your period and how well did you use the time you were given
We managed to take around 2 months to complete the film that due to everyone not being in the lesson and to precede we had to have all 3 of us present so we can come to an agreement when we are filming, we spent the first week on pre-production and the rest on filming and recording. But because at least 1 of us was missing during the lessons we could not superbly finish it up.
What happens when you do not meet deadlines in the professional media industry?
As the deadline approaches in production, it may not be as important as initially thought, so it is important to keep the team going. It is also important to admit your mistakes and be honest. Lying, shifting responsibility, and misunderstanding this will only result in your team leader redeploying or firing you. In the film industry, it may be wise to ask for help. It may seem intimidating at first, but because it allows you to quickly fix issues without disrupting production. So, the solution would be to plan Do as much as you can to anticipate what the media will request from you. Mange your time. Be considerable. Be accountable. Learn from your mistakes.
Did you meet the deadlines set in class?
Unfortunately, not because we had a lot of absences due to personal reasons so I could not do it in time but from this mistake I have learned to become a better student and became accountable for my mistakes which is take my Ls into learnings. Next time I will make sure I hand in the work on time or earlier, so I do not make the same mistake and produce a better piece of work.
Equipment/facilities
How do you obtain equipment in professional moving image productions?
Video camera, tripod, camera light, 3-point light kit, microphone, rod and lens and you should be good to go to record, we got our equipment from the college ICT team, so we got the chance to experiment with the items before we started to film.
The Hall - Oxford shire-based Postproduction and Media Facilities company. from ingesting & digitizing, offline & online editing, graphics, voiceover recording & audio mixing through to transcoding & final delivery including Harding testing and AQC - whether on tape or file.
What equipment was available to you for you to depict the project?
Video camera, tripod, camera light, 3-point light kit, microphone, rod, and lens which we got from the good people of the ICT department we which borrowed and then returned when we were done filming.
Locations:
Where did you film and how do you go about securing locations legally?
We filmed in college which Church Ln, Gorleston-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth NR31 7BQ. In 2-3 separate locations, one scene near the science block outside, another scene near the cafeteria and a small chase scene near the science block again but at a different angle. And as we are students, we had permission to film the property.
How and why did your specific locations depict videos?
Reason we picked that certain area is because it is the easiest and closest to the classroom so we could get too straight to filming instead of spending a lot of time walking to a certain area and then walking back then putting all the camera stuff away which all takes times so we would have time management on our side because we are so close
Materials:
In addition to crew, cast and equipment, what is needed to make a moving image text?
Costumes for the actors so they can play the part arcuately, props so they can use to play the part arcuately and sell the part as if they are the character and everyone's favorite food and drink, so everyone just eat and stay on set instead of leaving. Some extra stuff you will need which is important to the actors but something behind the scenes is editing software to write video text. But more importantly, a good computer can run large-scale editing programs. A good and reliable computer is also important because it must be able to read your SD card and be fast enough to download and move video files. It is just wasteful in the movie industry to have to wait a long time for certain items to load or restart due to a crash.
legal issues:
What legal considerations might there be when using certain materials in media production?
To broadcast a movie, you must be able to prove that you own or have permission to use all the content. This means that you must have documented evidence that you have the right to use each element of the film (either proof that some content is available for free in the public domain, or a letter confirming permission).
To prevent this, you will need a Script, images, and film scenes, product or logos and people.
