Assignment 1 - Depict!

Assignment 1 - Depict!

What was the task?

The task was to create a 90 second (about 1 and a half minutes) film, about anything, so we got partnered with some random people in our class so we would form a friendship with someone unknown. But our group would have me, Jack, and Ryan and I would say it is a good group.

What was your idea?

Our idea was a mockumentary called Spittin’ Facts where the protagonist Gustas is a local nut job out saying random stuff which the locals would consider a weird, 2 reporters from the area went out to seek Gustas and ask him information to why he is the way he is.

What planning documentation / processes did you have to complete and how much input did you have? Did you 'pull your weight'?

To be honest... No. But that was because I caught a deadly disease and survived, so my group had to do all the work while I was at home resting, getting better. But by the time I was there I had done the work my group made me do the like risk assessments, and got some filming done so at least everyone was in the video from our group.

Did your finished work reflect the planning you had completed?

Yes, there were a lot of positive and negative points but we as a group managed to do it which is the most important part of which was that we finished the project.

What changes did you make to your plan and why?

We originally wanted to go for a Halloween movie because we had this task given to us at that time, so we thought of a bunch of Halloween movie ideas but when Halloween passed, we thought of other ideas, something with comedy because we all loved to laugh so we knew comedy had to be the main pillar of our movie, so we ended up with a mocumentary with a bit of realism so it would seem like something relatable.

What do you think is the most successful aspect of the project

Working together as a team and enjoying the experience of making a film for the first time, another successful part would be that we managed to film all in the college where there was a lot of people getting on with their lesson so we had to keep it quiet and lowkey so we would not disrupt them.

This scene where we had an extra chase me because I said something horrible about his mother was a funny scene because before that we were talking a lot so seeing some action would make them think like what just happened and make them laugh. (Left picture)

A funny way to end the film by striking a cool pose. (Right picture)

What would you change or do differently if you were to undertake the task again?

Personally, if I did not have to go for 2 weeks, we could have made this movie 110% better so could of went outside of college and did some other scene outside of college to make this movie look more professional. And if more of us turned up to lessons instead of missing lessons.

What did you enjoy most about the project?

Personally, working with the guys, we never really know each other that well so making this movie made us closer as friends. Another part I enjoyed was playing the main character Gustas so I could just be myself and everyone would see the funny side of me.
